The Cold Milling Process:
Planing, also known as cold milling, is a machine cutting process that involves the removal of construction materials in individual layers. This process granulates the materials into reusable secondary aggregates.
Milling operations are performed using machines of varying sizes, ranging from 2.2m wide and over 40 tonnes in weight to 350mm wide and under 3 tonnes in weight.
The milling drum is the core component of every cold milling machine, which is fitted with point-attack cutting tools. As the machine moves forward, the milling drum rotates, granulating the pavement material using its cutting tools. The milling drum rotates against the direction of travel, removing the pavement material from the bottom towards the top.
A fully automated levelling system is utilised to maintain the correct milling depth. In most applications, the milled material is extracted from the milling chamber and loaded onto trucks via a one-stage or two-stage loading conveyor.

Our Road Planers and their capabilities:
The W35Ri is the smallest road planer and is primarily utilised for trimming areas that larger machines cannot reach and for small carriageway repairs on footpaths. It has a maximum milling width of 500mm and a maximum milling depth of 100mm.
The W50Ri is a small road planer equipped with a full-size elevator for loading into tippers, and it is mainly used for small carriageway repairs. It has a maximum milling width of 500mm and a maximum depth of 210mm.
The W100CFI is a versatile tracked planer machine suitable for use in various areas, including car parks and carriageways. It comes with a 6-wheel tipper and has a maximum milling width of 1000mm and a maximum milling depth of 310mm.
The W120CFI is similar to the W100CFI, however it covers a larger area in a shorter timeframe. It also comes with a 6-wheel tipper and has a maximum milling width of 1200mm and a maximum milling depth of 310mm.
The W150 is a tracked planer with a rear-mounted engine that is mainly used for larger areas. It comes with a 6-wheel tipper and has a maximum milling width of 1500mm and a maximum milling depth of 330mm.
The W200 is the larger planer offered by Jordans and is utilised for larger carriageway repairs. It is a tracked planer with a maximum milling width of 2000mm and a maximum milling depth of 330mm.
